Streptococcal infection is one of the most common co-infections in patients with rheumatoid arthritis(RA).Epidemiological studies have shown that the global incidence rate of RA is0.5％-1.0％,and streptococcal in-fection affects more than 500 000 patients worldwide every year,which is the main cause of morbidity and mortality of children,the elderly and patients with low immune function.At present,the treatment methods for RA combined with streptococcal infection have obvious side effects and limited clinical application.Professor Liu Jian has accumulated a wealth of clinical experience in the treatment of RA combined with streptococcal infections using traditional Chinese medicine after more than 30 years of clinical practice.Professor Liu Jian believes that the etiology and pathogenesis of RA combined with streptococcal infection are internal injury,spleen deficiency and excessive dampness,and external damp heat toxin.Clinical treatment should consider both the specimen and the body,with a focus on clearing heat,detox-ifying,and promoting dampness.At the same time,it should also take care of the spleen and stomach,accompanied by the method of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis,resulting in excellent clinical efficacy.This article summarizes and analyzes professor Liu Jian's experience in treating rheumatoid arthritis complicated with streptococcal infection by using the method of balancing specimens in order to promote righteousness and eliminate evil.
