The Changes and Management of Infestation of Agrilus planipennis in China
Agrilus planipennis is a native insect pest in China,and has not caused serious damage to local Fraxinus trees previously.However,in recent years,with the widespread planting of exotic Fraxinus trees,A.planipennis has evolved from a secondary pest to a major pest in China,causing great damage to Fraxinus trees in landscaping and afforestation,and posing a serious threat to the environment.In this article,the outbreak reasons of A.planipennis and the current situation of its control,especially the use of natural enemies in recent years were summarized.It was found that the use of natural enemies is one of the fundamental factors in controlling the insect population and damage.The use of biological control combined with multiple measures is an effective method to control the spread of A.planipennis and reduce ecological and economic losses.The article can provide a experience for the prevention and control of other trunk-boring pests.
