A Survey on the Relationship between Career Adaptability and Perceived Social Support among Urban and Rural Adolescents
Unpredictability and uncertainty have become essential characteristics of career development,but there is a lack of systematic empirical analysis in the academic community on the current status and influencing factors of career adaptability develop-ment among urban and rural adolescents.Therefore,it is necessary to study the relationship between career adaptability status and perceived social support among urban and rural adolescents.The research results show that the overall career adaptability of urban and rural adolescents is at a slightly above average level;there is no significant difference in the total score and scores of individual dimension of career adaptability between male and female students;there are significant differences in the total score of career adapt-ability and the scores of career attention,career curiosity,and career confidence among adolescents of different ages;there is no sig-nificant difference in the total score and dimensions of career adaptability between left-behind children and non-left-behind children;there are significant differences in the total score of career adaptability and the scores of career attention,career curiosity,and career confidence among adolescents in different types of schools;there is a significant positive correlation between adolescent career adapt-ability and perceived social support in both their overall scores and sub dimensions.The research results suggest that age,different types of schools,and perceived social support are important factors affecting the career adaptability of adolescents,and further atten-tion should be paid to the cultivation of career adaptability among Chinese adolescents,especially rural adolescents.
