Explanation of Cultural Characteristics of Chinese Characters with Long(龙)-radical in Shuowenjiezi
The Loong is a legendary creature in Chinese culture.After thousands of years of interpretation and deduction by the Chinese people,it is finally condensed into an important cultural phenomenon with unique na-tional characteristics.Shuowenjiezi preserves the precious historical information of the Chinese ancestors.There-fore,this paper takes Chinese characters with Long(龙)-radical in Shuowenjiezi as the research object to ex-plain its cultural characteristics.The results confirm that the Loong,as an alligator,first appeared as a sorcery praying for rain under the influence of the farming culture of Central Plains in the wild times,that the Loong be-came a symbol of emperors and nobles because of many advantages such as noble status and compatibility with the national mergence,and that the Loong has risen to the status symbol of all the people under the community consciousness of the Chinese nation after the feudal monarchy stepped down from the stage of history.Chinese characters with Long(龙)-radical in Shuowenjiezi witness the code-switching among the animal nature,the di-vine nature and the human nature of the Loong,and the Loong culture carries the glorious epic of being tolerant to diversity,braving the wind and waves and the vigorous spirit of Chinese nation.
