Shuowenjiezi,as an exegesis reference book,is of great significance to the association of cognate words.Based on the linkage of Shuowenjiezi,this paper starts from the original meaning of"shen(参)"-"shangxing(商星)",sorts out its extended context,and finds that"shen(参)"has four extended meanings.First;"can(参)"has the meaning of large quantity,great degree,high rank,which means high and long,and its cognates include"can(㜗)""can(黪)""can(惨)""shen(渗)""shan(縿)""san(毵)""can(穇)""sen(槮)".Second,"can(参)"is uneven,its cognates include"cen(篸)""can(㺑)""san(鬖)".Third,"can(参)"has the meanings of mixing,interaction and participation,and its cognate words include"shen(糁)""can(謲)""chan(掺)""chen(碜)""chen(墋)".Fourth,"can(参)"has three meanings of distinction,verification and impeachment.
