Jia Kui and Xu Shen,as important experts on writing systems and Confucian scholars in the Eastern Han dynasty,jointly promoted the development of studies of Confucian classics.Jia Kui is committed to elevating the actual status of ancient Confucian studies,while Xu Shen integrates modern and ancient Confucian studies.On the basis of inheriting Jia Kui's studies of Confucian classics,Xu Shen developed and innovated them,and made great contributions to the development of Confucian studies in the Eastern Han dynasty by turning the controversy between modern and ancient studies of Confucian classics to a comprehensive understanding through Wujingyiyi and Shuowenjiezi.
