Effect of Yttrium on Microstructure and Properties of 6082 Aluminium Alloy under Diffusion annealing
Cast-rolled sheets of 6082 aluminium alloy without yttrium and 6082 aluminium alloy containing yttrium with a mass frac-tion of 0.35%were prepared by twin-roll casting.The effects of yttrium on the microstructure and properties of 6082 cast-rolled sheets during diffusion annealing were studied by means of metallographic observation and scanning electron microscopy.The results show that the addition of yttrium can accelerate the homogenization process of 6082 cast-rolled sheets and shorten the optimum ho-mogenization time from 12 h to 10 h.In addition,yttrium can promote the dispersion of the second phase in the matrix,and improve the comprehensive performance of 6082 cast-rolled sheets after diffusion annealing.Compared with 6082 cast-rolled sheets without yttrium addition,the yield strength,tensile strength and elongation of sheets with yttrium addition are increased by 9.5%,23.8%and 21.8%,respectively.
