Effect of Emulsified Asphalt on Early Strength of Cold Recycled Mixture
Based on a Xinjiang Changji highway reconstruction project, the mix ratio design of emulsified asphalt cold recycled mixture was carried out.The early strength characteristics of emulsified asphalt cold recycled mixture were analyzed based on cohesion test and wet wheel abrasion test, and the evaluation indexes of early strength of emulsified asphalt cold recycled mixture were discussed in combination with indoor simulated core sampling test. The results show that there is a certain compatibility between emulsified asphalt and RAP(Recycled Asphalt Mixture),and the selection of suitable emulsified asphalt can significantly improve the early strength of emulsified asphalt cold recycled mixture. It is suggested that the inspection and evaluation of cohesion test and wet wheel abrasion test should be added to the mix ratio design of emulsified asphalt cold recycled mixture, and at the same time, the simulation core sampling test should be supplemented for verification. It is recommended that the indoor relative humidity of emulsified asphalt cold recycled mixture is 70%and the adhesion under the conditions of health maintenance at 25 ℃ for 4 h should not be less than 2.30 N·m and the wet-wheel wear mass loss rate should not be less than 3.00%.
