Simplified Algorithm of Coulomb's Earth Pressure with Consideration of Distributed Load
When using Coulomb's earth pressure theory for retaining wall design, the analytical algorithm can only consider the relative regularity of ground morphology, and the numerical algorithm has a complicated traversal calculation process.A simplified coulomb's earth pressure algorithm considering the distribution load is proposed. The distributed load is equivalent to a loaded soil column.Meanwhile, tilting the loaded soil column at the angle of the failure angle, which can simplify the calculation of Coulomb's earth pressure with the effect of load into the calculation without the effect of load. This avoids the need to consider the multiple position relationships between failure surfaces and the load in the existing calculation method, making the calculation process more convenient. After obtaining the failure angle, the soil pressure distribution diagram can be obtained by dividing the sliding wedge according to the failure angle.By comparing with the analytical solution, the simplified method has accurate calculation results, and the soil pressure distribution shape matches the analytical solution.
