Application of Ground Penetrating Radar in Service Status Evaluation of Special Structure Subgrade in Permafrost Area
Non-destructive testing was carried out on a highway(rubble subgrade, hot rod subgrade and ventilation pipe subgrade)in a plateau, and ground penetrating radar technology was used to identify the types of special structure subgrade, diseases and the distribution of frozen soil in the permafrost area. The results show that the waveforms at the ventilation layer of the rubble subgrade are disorganized and distributed regionally. The ventilation pipe subgrade has the characteristics of a fixed spacing wide-width hyperbola, and the hot rod subgrade has the characteristics of a fixed spacing narrow-amplitude lunate hyperbola. The subgrade diseases are identified, and it is found that some pores of the rubble subgrade in the tested section are blocked, the ventilation pipe subgrade has uneven settlement, and part of the hot rod subgrade fails.Through the identification of the artificial upper limit of permafrost under the subgrade and the comparison with the previous survey data,it is shown that the permafrost under the subgrade with special structure in the tested section is degraded, and the upper limit of permafrost is moved down.
