Breeding of a New Upward Hot Pepper Variety of'Xiangla 715'
Xiangla 715,which is a upward hot pepper variety with late maturity,was bred by utilizing cytoplasmic-nucleic male sterility line of N06153-8-7A as female line and RC12-48-12-1-6 as male line.The first female flower appears on the about 15th node.With high growth vigor and tall plant,it has strong fruits setting ability.The fruit is finger-shaped with length of 9-11 cm,width of 1.4 cm,flesh thickness of 0.19 cm,and single fruit weight of 7.3 g.Smooth fruit skin with polish,dark green color in immature stage turns to orange red color and then to red color during maturity.Its capsaicin content was 0.26%and yield was around 1 706.2 kg per 667 m2.It has resistance to phytophthora blight,moderately resistance to anthracnose,and tolerance to cold and drought.This variety is suitable for planting in Hainan,Guangdong and Guangxi provinces for high yield cultivation in open field in autumn season,or planting in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau for film covering high-yield cultivation in open field.
