Wang Chuanshan's Ontology System and the Interpretation of Laoziyan
It is generally believed that Wang Fuzhi's attitude towards Lao Tzu is critical and depreciative, and his book Laoziyan has also been interpreted as irony. In fact,Wang Fuzhi's ontology system also incorporates the classic views of Lao Tzu and he makes a new interpretation of the perspective of Qi studies. On the one hand, the interpretation of Laoziyan requires Chuan-shan's Zhouyi Waizhuan as a reference frame. On the other hand, the inter-pretation in Laoziyan also makes up an important part of Chuanshan's ontolo-gy system. In the obscure annotations of Laoziyan,Chuanshan does not strict-ly obey the original text of Lao Tzu,but treats Laoziyan as a full text of irony which would inevitably lose the purpose of Chuanshan.Chuanshan tries to dissolve the utilitarian aspect of Lao Tzu's doctrine and to trans-form Lao Tzu's theory, and this rejection also reflects the evolution of Lao Tzu's commentary trend in the late Ming Dynasty, highlighting the inherent characteristics of Dao as dynamic and impartial.
