By using the methods of literature research,field investigation and comparative analysis,the author analyzes the grammatical function and evolution of"彪(biao)"in Northeast Mandarin.It is found that:"彪(bi-ao)"is an adjective;"彪(biao)"can be used as predicate,object,attribute,adverbial,etc.;"彪(biao)"is mainly derogatory while having a certain degree of tender care;other words often express special meanings when combined with it.The evolution of"彪(biao)"is influenced by the grammaticalization of itself and other factors such as homophones"膘(biao)""飙(biao)",which is the result of the joint action of diachronic factors and synchronic factors.
