Using the diachronic and synchronic methods,the author discusses the origin and the meaning de-velopment of"干净(ganjing)",and summarizes the syntactic function and semantic characteristics of the word.The results show that"干净(ganjing)"with meaning of"clean"is a compound word with partial meaning,and it is often used as an attributive;"干 净(ganjing)"with meaning"竭尽(exhausting)"is a coordinative joint word,and only serves as a complement in a sentence.
