Methodological Reflection on Scientism Interpretation of Historical Materialism
Historical materialism clarifies the dialectical relationship between historical elements,and reveals the law of social historical movement.Through mechanistic determinism,structuralism,functional interpretation,as well as statistical,nonlinear and complex concepts,the scientism interpretation of historical materialism attempts to further elucidate the relationship between economic factors and other factors,the inevitability and contingency of history,and continuity and discontinuity of history.From the methodological perspective,these interpretations extensively utilizes theories,methods,and ways of thinking of natural sciences,linguistics,and logic.These interpretations have certain enlightening significance for us to understand and grasp the historical materialism.These interpretations consciously or unconsciously apply the methodology of scientism,bringing us a series of theoretical difficulties in deeply understanding and grasping the historical materialism.Therefore,when understanding the historical materialism,we must have a conscious methodology.Only by adhering to dialectics can we scientifically distinguish the similarities and differences between natural research and social history research,and scientifically and accurately understand and grasp the historical materialism.
