Factors Associated with The Efficiency of Platelet-Rich Plasma Injection Among Patients with Knee Osteoarthritis
Objective:To identify the factors that influence the effect of PRP in the treatment of KOA.Methods:PRP was performed in 82 patients who were diagnosed with KOA.A Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC)was used to score the level of KOA.Visual Analogue Scale(VAS),X-ray and subsequent Kellgren-Lawrence(K-L)grading evaluation were performed before the treatment. The change of WOMAC before and after treatment was used to evaluate the effect of PRP.Results:WOMAC decreased after PRP therapy.Univariate analysis showed that K-L grade before treatment, course of disease and WOMAC score after PRP treatment had statistical significance.Multifactor linear regression showed that high VAS score before treatment, low K-L grade before treatment and male patients were protective factors affecting PRP treatment, and correlation showed that K-L grade was negatively correlated with WOMAC changes. Conclusion:Male KOA patients with severe pain and mild to moderate K-L rating were favorable factors for PRP treatment.
