The Association of Interaction between Free Fatty Acid and Lipopolysaccharide with Mild Cognitive Impairment
Objective:To explore the association of interaction between free fatty acid(FFA)and lipopolysaccharide(LPS)with mild cognitive impairment(MCI).Methods:The study population were 2033 residents aged over 30 years in the community of Guangzhou.General information, and cognitive information based on MMSE was collected.Fasting blood samples were drawn for the detection of FFA and LPS.The subjects were classified into 4 groups based on both FFA and LPS levels.Multiple logistic regression analysis was used to calculate the Odds ratios(ORs)and 95%confidence intervals(CIs).RERI,AP,and SI was used to analyze the interaction between FFA and LPS with MCI.Results:Compared to the subjects in the both low FFA and LPS group, the subjects in the both high FFA and LPS had higher risk of prevalent MCI(adjusted OR 5.60,95%CI 3.50-8.95,P<0.05).The interaction analysis showed that the synergistic effects between FFA and LPS on MCI were 1.28 times the sum of individual effects of FFA and LPS.Conclusion:The synergistic effects between FFA and LPS increase the risk of prevalent MCI.
