Marrism in the history of Russian philosophy of language and its contemporary review
In the history of Russian philosophy of language,Marrism was a controversial issue, which char-acterized the first half of the 20th century.Marr's new linguistic doctrine not only based on the traditional linguistics, but also integrated ethnoarchaeological thoughts, and incorporated sociological and anthropo-logical factors at the same time.He expounded unique views on the nature, origin, development of lan-guage,and the relationship between language and thinking. His original intention was to explore a better path for Russian theoretical linguistics, that is different from the West, follows Marxist principles, and is suitable for the development of the new country. From a historical perspective, especially from an interdis-ciplinary perspective it seems that in the limitation of Marr himself and his new linguistic doctrine we can find the creative initiative, and today some of his views are also of practical significance in certain fields of linguistics.
