The development of meaning through extension and metaphor is one of the highly developed fea-tures of language system.Based on the Chinese and English skin adjectives and the Lexical Semantic Logic Theory,it is found that there are similarities in the derivation mechanism of the two languages,that is,the derivation of the extended sememe and the figurative sememe follow the semantic logic mechanism of"Denoting Name by Attribute"and"Denoting Attribute by Name"respectively.Meanwhile,through com-parison,it is also found that English,as a morphological language,has more derived sememes than Chi-nese,and Chinese derived sememes have higher transparency and motivation.
