Research of reward feedback processing and its neural mechanism in depressed individuals
The improvement of anhedonia symptoms is an important index for the recovery or remission of depressed individuals, which has attracted attention of researchers on the reward feedback processing and its neural mechanism in depressed individuals. The processing and neural mechanism of reward feedback in depressed individuals were summarized in this paper. The results showed that depressed individuals were less sensitive to reward feedback than healthy individuals, which may be related to the lack of motivation to get rewards, insensitivity to emotional situations and reduced perceptual control. The results of the RewP,fb-P3 and LPP components produced by the reward feedback of depressed individuals were analyzed, indicating that the neural mechanism inconsistency may be related to the task paradigm and the differences among examined groups.Future studies can refine reward types and explore the neural basis of processing different feedback in depressed individuals.Brain imaging technology was used to locate the reward feedback processing brain region to support conclusions of existing electrophysiological studies and extend the study to individuals prone to depression.
