The embodiedness in embodied-cognitive poetics can be understood in two aspects:the embodied nature of literary works and the experiential nature of the reading process, both of which originate from the human body. From the perspective of Merleau-Ponty's phenomenology of perception, the human body is neither purely material nor purely spiritual, but rather a fusion and unity of the two,and it is the place where meaning arises.Firstly, this idea of physical and mental unity is often reflected in literary works. On the one hand, literary works usually touch the human soul and spirit through sensory means;on the other hand, the interaction between body and identity is often reflected in literature. This is the embodiedness of literature.Secondly, literary works bring readers into a world of perception and experience through creative language, and involve them in the work with emotion as media. This is the experiential nature of literary reading. Therefore, both the creation and reading of literature have distinct embodied and experi-ential characteristics.
