Rhabdomyolysis induced by combination of atorvastatin and gabapentin:a case re-port and disproportionate analysis
Objective To explore the clinical characteristics of rhabdomyolysis caused by the combination of atorvastatin and gabapentin. Methods A case of rhabdomyolysis after intermittent combination of atorvastatin and ga-bapentin was reported, and a disproportionate analysis was conducted on the FAERS database to explore the correlation between rhabdomyolysis and atorvastatin and/or gabapentin. Results The signal of adverse events mainly suspected to be caused by atorvastatin was stronger than that of gabapentin. In the adverse event signals caused by atorvastatin combined with gabapentin was stronger than non-accompanied events.By reviewing the medication history and disease course of this patient,it was considered that the combination of the two drugs was likely to cause rhabdomyolysis.Con-clusion When atorvastatin and gabapentin are used in combination, they can cause serious and rare adverse reactions of rhabdomyolysis, especially when complicated with infections and renal insufficiency. When combination use of the two drugs, attention should be paid to the patient's renal function indicators and avoid prolonged use.
