Collaborative learning is an important component of online learning through mobile devices and exerts a positive impact on enhancing the effectiveness of online English learning.This study investigates the current situation of college students'online collab-orative learning of English,focusing on the two dimensions:attitudes towards online cooperative English learning and its implementa-tion.It aims to explore the influence of learner factors(i.e.gender and English proficiency)on college students'online collaborative learning of English through a questionnaire survey.The study involved 365 freshmen from a university in Guangdong Province.The re-sults indicate that:Students hold a positive attitude towards online collaborative learning of English and are able to engage in it effec-tively;Regarding collaborative attitudes,gender has no significant impact on positive attitudes,but significant differences are observed in negative attitudes,with females generally exhibiting a more positive attitude towards online collaborative learning;In terms of imple-mentation of cooperative learning,females perform better in terms of"personal responsibility"than males and higher proficiency students perform slightly better than lower proficiency students,particularly in terms of"interpersonal and group skills".
