Study on Barrier Properties of Pharmaceutical and Food Polyethylene Film
Objective To study the changes of oxygen and water vapor transmittance of low density polyethylene film and high density polyethylene film with different thickness,analyze the effect of film thickness on oxygen transmittance and water vapor transmittance,and provide basis and guidance for the selection of thickness and material of pharmaceutical packaging and food packaging.Methods The oxygen permeability and water vapor permeability of polyethylene film with different thickness were measured by pressure difference method and infrared method respectively.Conclusion The oxygen permeability decreases with the increase of polyethylene film,and the water vapor permeability decreases with the increase of polyethylene film.With the same thickness,the oxygen and water vapor permeability of high-density polyethylene film are lower than that of low-density polyethylene film.The oxygen permeability and water vapor permeability of polyethylene film with different thickness and material are different.
