Study on the Repellent Effects of Crude Extracts from Five Plants on Sitophilus oryzae
The repellent effects of crude extracts from five plants,including Cinnamomum camphora,Pinus yun-nanensis,Zanthoxylum bungeanum,Capsicum annuum,and Allium sativum,on adult of Sitophilus oryzae were in-vestigated using a Y-tube olfactometer and a filter paper disc choice method.The results indicated that among the five plant extracts,the crude extract from Allium sativum showed the best repellent effect on adult of Sitophilus oryzae,achieving a repellency rate of 88％with a 20 mg/mL treatment over 12 hours,which could reach the level of Grade V.The crude extract of Zanthoxylum bungeanum had the second best repellent effect,with a repellent rate of 72％after 12 hours of treatment with 20mg/L,which could reach the level of Grade Ⅳ.However,the crude extracts of Cinnamomum camphora,Pinus yunnanensis,Capsicum annuum had a relatively low repellent effect on Sitophilus oryzae.From this,it could be seen that the crude extracts of Allium sativum and Zanthoxylum bungeanum have a long repellent time and good repellent effect on adults of Sitophilus oryzae.
