The"Image Historiography"of the Sino-Japanese War:Historical Presentation and Its Narrative Criticism of"Nihilism"
With the advent of"the age of reading pictures"and"visual turn",the historical materials of im-ages related to the Sino-Japanese War,which were previously hidden in libraries,art galleries or pri-vate individuals,have been gradually disclosed and exhibited.This opens up a new research direction for promoting the study of the Sino-Japanese War.The photography and the Nishikie prints related to the Sino-Japanese War are not only a way to record the historical facts of the War,but also an integral part of the history itself.By exploring the production and circulation of the Nishikie prints related to the Sino-Japanese War,this paper reveals and criticizes the representation and essence of"civilization"logic and"nihilism"of their historical presentation and image narration,so as to make the"historical images of the Sino-Japanese War"more specific,vivid,abundant,solid and diversified.
