A Preliminary Analysis of the Ancient Chinese Maritime Civilization
Over historical development,it has cultivated a distinctive maritime civilization. From a geo-graphical perspective, the eastern and southern regions of China are bordered by the sea.Influenced by ocean currents and monsoon patterns, the southeastern coastal areas-particularly Fujian,Guangdong, and Zhejiang-emerged as the birthplace of Chinese maritime civilization during the era of traditional sailing vessels.Through continuous maritime activities since Han and Tang dynasties, the southeastern coastal region, especially southern Fujian, gradually be evolved into the core area of Chinese maritime civilization since 10th century.Notably,as the"Age of Exploration"brings a new global maritime para-digm in 17th and 18th century,Fujian and other coastal regions actively adapted to these changes, demonstrating the tremendous potential for the further development of Chinese maritime civilization.
