Measurement of agricultural water use efficiency in Henan Province based on unexpected output and analysis of its influencing factors
Water is an indispensable material basis for agricultural production, and improving the efficiency of wa-ter use in agricultural production is of great significance to the sustainable development of agriculture and national food security.Agricultural grey water footprint is utilized as an undesirable output indicator to measure the water use efficiency in agricultural production across 18 cities in Henan Province from 2005 to 2020,using the super-SBM model and Malmquist index for static and dynamic analysis.Additionally, the Tobit model is utilized to an-alyze the factors that influence agricultural water use efficiency. The results indicated that:① From 2005 to 2020,the overall agricultural water use efficiency in Henan Province showed an increasing trend, but compared with the provincial average level, half of the areas still failed to reach the provincial average water use efficiency. In addition, the water use efficiency of agricultural production in western Henan, central Henan, southern Henan, eastern Henan and northern Henan decreased step by step.② The change of Malmquist index mainly relies on the change index of technical efficiency, and its change trend is basically consistent with the change index of technical efficiency.③ The proportion of agricultural water use and the proportion of secondary industry in GDP have a significant inhibitory effect on agricultural water use efficiency.Conversely, per capita GDP,the share of the primary industry in GDP,agricultural planting structure, significantly promote agricultural water use efficiency. Therefore,it is necessary to vigorously develop agricultural water-saving technologies and reduce agricultural water use.It is important to en-hance water-saving awareness among farmers and pay attention to regional differences in agricultural water use ef-ficiency.Pay attention to the regional differences of water use efficiency in agricultural production, and accelerate the formulation of agricultural water use policies in line with regional development according to local conditions.
