Langcang-Mekong cooperation to establish a community for sub-regional food security
Food security is associated with growth and security,which is not only a political but also an economic proposition and a crucial component of national security.Countries in the Lancang-Mekong subregion have much in common in terms of natural resource endowments and agricultural development potential,making them ideal partners.With the aid of geopolitical economics and the theory of sub-regional economic cooperation,this paper developed the concept of cooperative sub-regional food security,taking into account the challenging internal and external environments when implementing sub-regional cooperation for food security,analyzed the advantages and challenges of sub-regional cooperation,and proposed feasible paths to promote the construction of a community with a shared future for sub-regional food security cooperation.
