Research on total factor productivity of rice in Hunan Province based on DEA-Malmquist index
In the context of ensuring food security, based on the DEA-Malmquist index method, the dynamic input-output efficiency of rice in 13 prefecture level cities and 1 autonomous prefecture of Hu-nan Province was measured, and Hunan Province was divided into four regions:the Changsha-Zhu-zhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration, the southern Hunan region, the western Hunan region, and the Dongting Lake region for comparative analysis. The empirical analysis results show that:firstly, due to the improvement of technology, total factor productivity is on the rise;secondly, there are significant differences in total factor productivity among different prefecture level cities and autonomous prefectures;Thirdly, total factor productivity shows a decreasing trend in the Dongting Lake region, the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan urban agglomeration, the southern Hunan region, and the western Hunan region.Based on this, targeted suggestions are proposed to implement policies from three aspects:increasing scientific research investment to improve technology, introducing policy dividends by the government to solve practical difficulties, and promoting economic development to improve the planting environment.
