Objective:Determination of harmful elements such as mercury, arsenic, cadmium, lead, and copper in yam by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS).Method:Microwave digestion was used to treat samples, with 209Bi,72Ge,115In as internal standards. The content of five harmful elements was determined by ICP-MS.Result:The linear relationship was good within the concentration range of 0~10.0 μg·L-1 for mercury,0~50 μg·L-1 for arsenic,0~20 μg·L-1 for cadmium,0~50 μg·L-1 for lead, and 0~500 μg·L-1 for copper.Precision test showed that the relative standard deviation of five harmful elements was less than 2.2%;the recoveries of mercury, arsenic, cadmium, lead and copper were 84.7%,87.8%,84.7%,81.9%and 87.2%,and the relative standard deviation was less than 2.9%.Conclusion:This method is simple, fast, and highly accurate, can be used to simultaneously determine the content of five harmful elements in yam.
