Preparation of Porous Biochar from Pomelo Peel and Its Adsorption Performance for Cu(Ⅱ)in Water
In this paper,a porous biochar material was prepared from agroforestry waste pomelo peel through high-temperature carbonization and activation processes. The morphology and structure of porous biochar from grapefruit peel were characterized by scanning electron microscopy,X-ray powder diffraction, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and specific surface area analyzer. These biochar materials were applied to study the adsorption of copper(Ⅱ)from wastewater. The results showed that the activated pomelo peel porous biochar had obvious porous structure, and the adsorption rate was up to 91.26%under conditions of pH 6 and 20 mg·L-1 Cu(Ⅱ)ion solution at 45℃.The adsorption process of pomelo peel porous biochar on Cu(Ⅱ)ions conformed to the pseudo second-order kinetic model(R2=0.979)and the Langmuir model(R2=0.978).These results suggest that pomelo peel porous biochar has great potential as a new type of material for controlling pollution in wastewater treatment applications.
