A Review on the Application of Extended Reality Technology in Domestic Tourism Industry
Extended Reality(XR)is a general term for Augmented Reality,Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality.The advent of XR is revamping people's traditional concept of tourism and travel experience.Chinese scholars have studied the application of XR in tourism industry for more than 20 years,but the research is still in its infancy.By reviewing the relevant literature of do-mestic CSSCI and Peking University core journals from 2000 to 2022 and using CiteSpace software to conduct knowledge map-ping analysis,the author systematically elaborated the research status,research hot-spots and evolution trend of the application of XR in domestic tourism industry.The results show that(1)The time characteristics of related paper publishing are obvious;(2)The research institutions are isolated and dispersed;(3)The source of journals are too concentrated;(4)The research hot-spots are diversified and diffused;(5)The existing research centers on tourism development and protection,destination marketing and travel experience.The used basic theories span many disciplines and the research methods are gradually enriched.Based on the current foundation of research,it concludes that it is necessary to study XR in depth and establish a reasonable theoretical research system.It is urgent to combine quantitative and qualitative methods and build a collaborative research network in an active way to im-prove the research level in multiple directions,fields and regions and deepen the application of XR technology in the tourism in-dustry.
