On Mount Emei Basalt and Platform Mountain Landform
The Mount Emei basalt, widely distributed across the provinces of Yunnan,Guizhou, and Sichuan from the Permi-an to Triassic periods,is the only large igneous province internationally recognized by the academic community.Among these, the Mount Emei basalt formed by the eruption of the late Permian mantle plume covers an area of 260,000 square kilometers, creating a picturesque and colorful landscape that represents one of the potential valuable tourism resources in China. The"thick layer"of the Yangtze Craton's western continental eruption is predominantly composed of calc-alkaline basalt, dense and amygdaloidal tex-tured basalt, forming a unique table mountain-style basalt and inclined platform-style basalt mountains ranging from Wawushan in the north to Dashanbao in the south, which are precious tourism geomorphological resources in China. This paper reveals the characteristics of the Mount Emei basalt's tableland topography and proposes the significance of this topography as a tourism re-source,encouraging more focus and further research on this invaluable tourism resource.
