A Study of Nine Colloquial Expressions in the Government Archives of Nanbu County in the Qing Dynasty
The government archives of Nanbu county in the Qing dynasty is precious and contains a large number of collo-quial expressions including"da"(达),"gu"(估),"huo"(夥),"pie"(撇),"xie"(歇),"yaodian"(腰店),"yi"(蚁),"yin"((焉))and"zhan"(站).The nine words are inexplicable,causing difficulties for readers and forming a reading barrier.Based on the context and the existing literature,their meanings are respectively verified."Da"means"together with","gu"means"to force","huo"means"in league with","pie"means"to deceive","xie"means"stay and lodge for the night","yaodian"means"small inn halfway","yi"means"a humble name of mine","yin"means"to measure"and"zhan"means"to reside".
