A Brief History of the Development of Higher Education in Cities and Prefectures of Sichuan Province Since the Reform and Opening-up
This paper systematically compiles relevant data on the development and changes of higher education institutions in 20 cities and prefectures of Sichuan Province(excluding Chengdu),since the Reform and Opening-up.Based on these data,it discusses the evolution process of higher education in these cities and prefectures,from elitism to massification and then to popularization.Particularly,it highlights the period from 2016 to 2023 as the most rapid phase of higher education development in Sichuan's cities and prefectures since the Reform and Opening-up.With unprecedented enthusiasm,multiple local governments have broken through the boundaries of municipal,provincial,and ministerial affiliations,opening up a new era and creating new experiences in the development of higher education in Sichuan's cities and prefectures beyond Chengdu.
