On Ideological and Political Dimension of"A Quality Selection of Articles from American & British Newspapers & Magazines"from the Perspective of Presenting Compelling China's Stories
General Secretary Xi Jinping of the CPC Central Committee has stressed the importance of presenting compelling China's stories to the world on different occasions.Given the widespread use of English in the world, telling compelling China's stories in English is an important aspect of presenting China to the rest of the world. In the current context of optimizing and adjusting academic majors in China's higher education institutions, transforming traditional English majors from an international communication perspective and cultivating students'ability to present compelling China's stories in English is one of the choices to address the challenges faced by traditional English majors.Integrating cultivating students'ability to present compelling China's stories in English into the development of ideological and political dimension in"A Quality Selection of Articles from American & British Newspapers & Magazines"is a mutually beneficial choice.Following the integrated teaching philosophy of knowledge, ability, and personal qualities,we redefine the goals of knowledge, ability and personal qualities. In terms of teaching content,we not only emphasize in-depth analysis of textbook content but also guide students to research topic selection and writing characteristics beyond basic vocabulary and expressions.Furthermore,we initiate the development of a resource library for reading British and American newspaper articles in order to integrate ideological and political education into the curriculum.By incorporating comparative analysis of domestic and international issues, promoting critical thinking discussions, and implementing blended learning,we aim to lay a solid foundation for students to effectively promote China's voice to the world.
