Effects of ferrous fumarate on growth performance and blood biochemical indexes of weaned piglets
In order to investigate the effect of ferrous fumarate on the growth performance and blood biochemical indicators of weaned piglets,120 28-day-old Du and three-way hybrid weaned piglets were selected and randomly divided into 4 groups. Each treatment had 3 replicates, and each replicate 10 pigs; The control group was fed with basal rations, and experimental groups 1,2,and 3 were fed with 3 experimental rations with 50,100,and 150 mg/kg of ferrous fumarate in the basal rations respectively. The period was 28 days. The results showed that the addition of ferrous fumarate could increase the average daily gain of weaned piglets, reduce the feed-to-weight ratio, and increase the iron content in piglet plasma. It can be seen that adding ferrous fumarate to the diet of weaned piglets can promote growth, and may prevent iron deficiency anemia by increasing the iron content in plasma, and improve skin color and hair condition.
