Comparison of two methods to determine the content of thiamine nitrate(vitamin B1)as feed additive
The differences between silicotungstic acid precipitation method and potentiometric titration method in the determi-nation of thiamine nitrate(vitamin B1)content were analyzed and compared,in order to provide reference for practical detection work. After 0,3,6,9,12,18,24 and 36 days, the RSD of silicotungstic acid precipitation method and potentiometric titration method were 0.1%and 0.1%respectively.The stability of the two methods was good.42 samples from different batches of 3 enterprises were determined by two methods, and the contents of thiamine nitrate(dry base meter)were 98.0%~101.0%by silicotungstic acid precipitation method and potentiometric titration method. The absolute difference between the two independ-ent determination results by silicotungstic acid precipitation method and potentiometric titration method was less than 0.4%,and there was no significant difference between the two methods(P>0.05).Silicotungstic acid precipitation method is time-consuming and has many operation steps, but it is easier to use reagents and instruments;Potentiometric titration is simple,rap-id,high accuracy and good precision, but considering the actual situation of feed enterprises and the control status of acetic an-hydride in China,it is more suitable for conditional manufacturers, users and testing institutions.
