In order to cope with the increasingly fierce competition in the field of grain and oil engineering,it is urgent now to find a novel engineering way and management pattern.Based on digital building information model,the BIM technology has been extended from architectural industry to other industries such as grain oil and foodstuff in China due to its strengths in visibil-ity,simulation,coordination,optimization,and drawing.In this paper,a brief introduction is made to the strengths,characteris-tics,and future development prospect of BIM technology in grain and oil engineering,in the hope to offer some reference for fur-ther promotion and application of the technology in the grain and oil engineering field.
