Application of Long Campaign Cooling Stave Technology on JISCO No.1 BF
The cooling stave of JISCO No.1 BF is inspected during overhaul, and it is found that the cooling stave is in good status generally, and the copper cooling stave of section 5-7 appear much better than the cast iron cooling stave of section 8 and 9.Such situation is mainly contributed by optimization of furnace profile design, application of copper cooling staves,in-crease of cooling water flowrate(which enhances the cooling intensity),and application of combined close loop soft water cir-culation cooling system. However,it is also discovered from the inspection that the cooling intensity of the lower and middle part of the furnace stack is insufficient because of lower cooling water flow rate of the cast iron cooling stave installed there, which affects the formation of stable slag skull. It is believed that the cast iron cooling stave installed above the copper cool-ing stave is an important factor affecting the furnace long campaign. Therefore, the design needs to be optimized further ac-cording to the raw material and fuel conditions and the furnace operation system, and more copper cooling stave should be used at the lower part of the furnace stack,i.e.the copper cooling stave should be extended to the interface of the molten ore and liquified ore phases.
