Investigation on Damage Behavior of Cast Iron and Steel Cooling Staves of Changjiang Steel No.3 BF
An investigation is carried out on damage behavior of cast iron and cast steel cooling staves of Changjiang Steel No.3 BF after its one generation campaign, and it is found that:(1)most of the inserted bricks in dovetail groove of the cooling staves falls and the average volume abrasion ratio of thedovetail groove ledgesof the cast steel cooling stave in section 9 and the cast iron cooling stave in section 11 are 46.56%and 73.3%,respectively;(2)the cracks inside the cast steel cooling stave extend inward by 60mm from the furnace hot side, while the crack inside the cast iron cooling stave extends outward o-ver the cooling water pipe;(3)iron oxide scaling is formed in the water pipes of cast steel and cast iron cooling stave;(4)there is no gap between the water pipes of the cast steel cooling stave and the stave body, but the gap exists between the water pipes of the cast iron cooling stave and the stave body, and it is as wide as 0.92mm max.It is believed that the dam-age of cooling staves of No.3 BF is caused by erosion of gas flow and the friction of stocks, the transversal and longitudinal penetration cracks of the stave body resulted from thermal shock, poor heat transfer of stave body caused by the gap between the water pipe and the stave body, and the scaling in the cooling water pipe.
