Simulation Study on Durability of Steel Reinforcement Layer at Bead Area of Off-The-Road Radial Tire
Taking the 18.00R25 off-the-road radial tire as an example, the causes of cracking at the inner end of steel reinforcement layer at bead area were analyzed, the finite element simulation model of the tire for this damage form was optimized, and the simulation research on the durability of steel reinforcement layer at bead area was conducted. The results showed that by dividing the thickness directions of the steel reinforcement layer and the carcass cord layer near the damage points into three layers of mesh, the local strain state at that location under load could be accurately simulated. The obtained shear strain concentration states in the circumferential direction of the rubber material between the steel reinforcement layer end and the carcass cord layer by using an optimized simulation model was highly consistent with the location and form of the tire damage. The circumferential shear strain amplitude of rubber material units near the damage point served as a reasonable indicator to evaluate the durability of the steel reinforcement layer end, which was helpful for optimizing design schemes of the tire.
