Effect of Carbon Black Oxidation Degree on Properties of BR/NR Blend
The effect of carbon black oxidation degree on the properties of butadiene rubber(BR)/natural rubber(NR)blends was studied. The Mooney viscosity of the BR/NR blend filled with carbon black after high-temperature devolatilization or oxidation treatment increased, and the processing performance deteriorated.Compared with untreated carbon black filled BR/NR blends, the high-temperature devolatilization treated carbon black filled BR/NR blends showed increased modulus at 300%elongation,tensile strength and compressive fatigue temperature-rise,while the aging resistance decreased. As the oxidation degree of carbon black increased, the modulus at 300%elongation,tensile strength, tear strength and compressive fatigue temperature-rise of BR/NR blends decreased. As the volatile content and oxidation degree of carbon black decreased, the loss factor of the BR/NR blend increased at 0 and 60 ℃.
