Effect of Tread Compound with Different Glass Transition Temperatures on Wet Skid Resistance of Tires
By designing tread compound formulations with the same hardness but different glass transition temperatures(Tg),the effect of tread compound on the wet skid resistance of tires in different seasons was studied. The results showed that within the range of Tg of tread compound from-30 to-8 ℃,as Tg decreased, the average peak braking factor and wet skid resistance index of the tire decreased.A lower ambient temperature was more favorable for testing the wet skid resistance of the tires. The silica formula with high Tg had less dependence on the testing environment, and the pattern structure with good drainage performance could effectively improve the wet skid resistance of the tires. The tread compound mainly filled with silica was more conducive to improving the wet skid resistance of the tires compared to the carbon black filling system.
