From the establishment of the Eastern Jin Dynasty to the fall of the Chen Dynasty,spanning five dynasties and nearly three hundred years,the various regimes that sought refuge in the south all harbored a deeply rooted attachment to Luoyang,forming the most widespread and profound nostalgia in Chinese history.This nostalgia,extending from emperors to commoners,encompassed the sorrow of national ruin,aspirations for reconquest,as well as recollections,imitations,and imaginative reconstructions of the good old days in the former capital.Manifesting in politics,culture,customs,and other aspects,it reinforced the sacred status of Luoyang in the depths of the Chinese nation's emotions and profoundly influenced the national consciousness and ethnic sentiments of the Chinese people.
