Research on the impact of digital economy development on farmers'income
Digital economy is gradually becoming a new driving force for economic development,which has a significant impact on increasing farmers'income.Based on panel data from 283 cities in China from 2011 to 2022,this paper constructed a two-way fixed effect model and a mediating effect model to explore the income increasing effect and underlying mechanism of digital economy on farmers'income,and deeply examined the heterogeneous impact of digital economy on farmers'income.The research found that:(1)The development of digital economy could significantly increase farmers'income,with an impact effect of 1.5550.After conducting robustness tests such as changing explanatory variable measurement methods and tail reduction,the effect of digital economy on forestry income was still valid.Further research found that the impact effect of the level of digital economy development on forestry income was 0.0122,which meant that for every unit increase in the level of digital economy development,farmers'forestry income would increase by 122 yuan.(2)Entrepreneurial activity and social networks were important mechanisms for digital economy to increase farmers'income.According to Sobel's test,the mediating effects of the two were 28.93%and 35.45%,respectively.(3)There was significant regional heterogeneity in the income increasing effect of digital economy on farmers.For every unit increase in the level of digital economy development,farmers'income in the eastern,central and western regions would increase by 32952,33059 and 15870 yuan,respectively.In addition,the income increasing effect of digital economy increased with the improvement of farmers'income level,with an impact coefficient of 6.3648 at the 0.90 percentile.This paper analyzed how digital economy affected farmers'income based on AMO theory,and analyzed the income increasing effect of digital economy from the perspective of social networks,provided a new analytical per-spective.At the same time,based on farmers'different income levels,heterogeneity analysis of the income increasing effect of digital economy provided empirical basis for formulating differentiated policies.Based on the research findings,some policy implications such as deepening integration of digital economy and rural development,and strengthening the role of digital economy in enhancing entre-preneurial activity were proposed.
