Research on the impact mechanism of digital rural development empowering common prosperity under the background of rural revitalization
High-quality development is an important direction and theme for economic and social development in China as it enters a new stage of development,and common prosperity is the core goal and requirement for achieving high-quality economic development.Digital countryside is highly compatible with its goals in terms of connotation and characteristics.Based on this,this article used provincial panel data from 30 provinces in China from 2011 to 2022,and used a two-way fixed effects model and a dynamic panel threshold model to analyze the impact mechanism of digital rural development empowering common prosperity.The results showed that:(1)The benchmark regression results indicated that the coefficient of digital countryside was 0.2629,and it was significantly positive at the 1%level.Digital countryside had a significant promoting effect on common prosperity,and this conclusion still held true after robustness and endogeneity tests.(2)Heterogeneity analysis found that digital countryside could significantly improve the level of common prosperity in the eastern,central and western regions,with impact coefficients of 0.3564,0.8086 and 0.4991,respectively.Heterogeneity analysis on the enrichment degree of forest resources passed all tests.(3)The threshold effect analysis found that the dual threshold estimates of digital countryside for common prosperity were 0.0650 and 0.1160,respectively.Between the two threshold values,the direction of the impact of digital countryside on common prosperity changed,reflecting the existence of critical effect of digital rural development on the realization of common prosperity.The article innovatively analyzed the mechanism of digital countryside on common prosperity from the perspective of income distribution theory,and used a dynamic panel threshold model to explore the nonlinear impact of digital countryside on common prosperity,which expanded related research.Based on the research results and discussions,this article proposed increasing support for the digital rural development,formulating differentiated regional development strategies,narrowing the digital divide,and achieving high-quality economic and social development.
