Selection of Fine Families of Larix gmelinii in Greater Hinggan Mountains
[Objective]By conducting growth trait surveys and statistical analyses on multi-point progeny test forests of Larix gmelinii established in the early years,we aim to select superior families with fast growth and broad adaptability, providing excellent planting materials for forestry production in the region and serving as a reference and basis for the establishment of the second-generation seed orchard of Larix gmelinii.[Methods]By surveying tree height and diameter at breast height, calculating volume, and conducting differential and variance analyses,we calculated heritability and genetic gain for each family.[Results]The tree height, diameter at breast height, and volume of the progeny test forests of each family were significantly different among families at all locations. The coefficient of variation of tree height was 11.86%-28.73%,that of diameter at breast height was 14.48%-36.26%,and that of volume was 30.53%-50.45%at the three locations.[Conclusion]By selecting the top 10%of families with fast growth and large growth volume, good adaptability, and small variation at the three locations,we selected five families with fast growth, large growth volume, and good adaptability, namely, families 22280,12001,22674,25037,and 9244.The genetic gain was over 15.75%,10.97%,and 19.89%respectively.
