Current Status,Problems and Suggestions for Management of Marsh Wetlands in Yunnan Province
Marsh wetlands play a crucial role in maintaining regional ecological safety and ecological balance. The total area of marsh wetlands in Yunnan province is 40 578.94 hm2,primarily distributed in Diqing prefecture,Lijiang city, and Zhaotong city. The combined area of these three prefectures accounts for 77.33%of the province's total marsh wetlands. The Yangtze River basin serves as the primary distribution area for marsh wetlands, covering 79.06%of the province's total area.Alpine and subalpine marsh wetlands, locates at altitudes above 3 000 meters, constitute 74.48%of the total marsh wetland area in Yunnan province, amounting to 30 222.77 hm2.Although the protection rate of marsh wetland resources in Yunnan province is 70.85%,the ecosystem is relatively fragile, facing challenges such as insufficient awareness of its importance, weak systematic restoration efforts, and an inadequate collaborative management mechanism. Therefore,it is recommended to strengthen the protection of marsh wetlands in Yunnan province through comprehensive measures, including marsh wetlands conservation, restoration, scientific monitoring, and management.
